Hannah and Mark’s wedding at Wadenhoe.
I’m often asked if I go and look around a venue before the wedding to which I always answer that I don’t, as a documentary wedding photographer I don’t need to come and look around before as I photograph what happens on the day rather than a pre planned set of photographs, also I could visit on a sunny day and the weather could be torrential rain as in the case with this wedding at Wadenhoe in Northamptonshire.
St Michael and All Angels church wedding Wadenhoe
Wadenhoe is a beautiful village next to the River Nene half way between Thrapston and Oundle in Northamptonshire and is home to Hannah and Mark.
The church of St Michael and All Angels sits high up overlooking the River Nene and surrounding countryside. Wedding guests arrived by double decker bus and walked up the path to the top of the hill. This is where best made plans often come unstuck as nobody had expected the weather to be as bad as it was! The rain eased off as Hannah arrived but after the wedding ceremony just as the guests started to make their way back down the hill there was a big crack of thunder and torrential rain, I’m often asked what happens if it rains at the wedding and the answer is I carry on as normal and get great photographs.
Tipi wedding marquee next to the River Nene
The wedding reception was in a Tipi on the banks of the River Nene in Wadenhoe, a really beautiful location. The rain cleared away and Hannah and Mark managed to get outside to take in the view across the River Nene before dinner and speeches.
