St Paul’s Walden Bury wedding photography in Hertfordshire.
It’s that time of the year again when I get behind with adding new weddings to my blog, recently I have been extremely busy with one or two weddings every week. At this time of the year I start to get a lot of my favourite type of weddings, the ceremony in a church and reception in a marquee. The British summer weather doesn’t always behave itself and Kelly and David’s St Paul’s Walden Bury wedding was no exception to this.
My coverage started at a pub in St Albans where I caught up with David and his ushers, then it was a short walk to St Peter’s church. Kelly and David live in St Albans and I had last seen them when I visited with albums last year after they contacted me about their wedding. I had photographed a wedding for a friend of theirs, that is how I book a lot of my work.
Kelly arrived for the ceremony under threatening skies, although the rain held off until later in the day. St Peter’s is a beautiful church which made for some lovely photographs during the ceremony. Afterwards it was time to head over to St Paul’s Walden Bury, the gardens in which the marquee was located. This was literally in the middle of nowhere and even my usually reliable sat-nav seemed confused as it sent me down a track in completely the wrong direction. Reverting back to old fashioned paper maps I eventually found my way.
St Paul’s Walden Bury is between Hitchin and Luton, it is a grade 1 listed garden and part of the wider estate which includes the childhood home of the late Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother. The garden was laid out in the 18th century. The marquee was situated next to a beautiful wild flower meadow which run down to a lake. It really is a perfect location for a wedding. When I arrived the clouds opened up to heavy rain but soon cleared up leaving everything looking even more colourful. The showers continued on and off through the afternoon giving an interesting contrast to the photographs. Kelly and David made the most of the dry spells to enjoy some time alone in the gardens. All to soon my coverage ended with the first dance.
