South Farm wedding photography – Vicky and Richard
April fools day might not be the first choice of dates for a wedding but this year it was also Easter Monday and the date for Vicky and Richard’s wedding at All Saints Church in Willen, Hertfordshire and South Farm, Royston, Cambridgeshire.
My first stop was at Vicky and Richard’s home in Hitchin to photograph the wedding preparations before catching up with Richard at a pub next to All Saints Church. A very big thank you to the vicar, Margaret, for allowing me to be the first photographer in twenty years to take photographs during a wedding in the church. These photographs always mean a great deal to the couple and as a documentary wedding photographer I love to capture those amazing expressions during the marriage ceremony. The ceremony itself is really what the day is about. I work in a very discrete way throughout the day and especially during the ceremony using very quiet cameras.
After the ceremony it was off to South Farm for the wedding reception. I have photographed a few weddings at South Farm and find it a fantastic venue. The younger wedding guests enjoyed the pigs, ducks and chickens. The sun came out later in the day which was very welcome after the grey skies and cold weather of recent weeks. The wedding breakfast takes place in a large barn overlooking the courtyard with the pigs and poultry.
It was a pleasure to work with videographer Richard from White Dress Films, videographers can sometimes get in the way of documentary wedding photographers but Richard works in a documentary style himself that fitted in with what I do.
I hope you enjoy these images from Vicky and Richard’s South Farm wedding photography. I have picked images that are mostly of the couple and that show some of the story of the day. These are about 15% of the total photographs from the day.
