On the 11th May I had the pleasure of photographing Ruth and Roy’s wedding in Lincolnshire. One of the things I love about my job is finding out the stories behind the wedding and Ruth and Roy had quiet a story to tell. Both Ruth and Roy are devout Christians, Roy is a pastor at the church and had been praying for a wife and his prayers were answered when he met Ruth. Ruth was living in Sheffield at the time and the couple would travel to see each other with Ruth staying with friends near to Roy. Roy proposed to Ruth last August.
I arrived to photograph Ruth’s preparations at a bed and breakfast in Mablethorpe, Lincolnshire. I then caught up with Roy at the Alford Congregational church.
The wedding ceremony was very important to Ruth and Roy and made for some fantastic photographs, the church was packed full of their family and friends. After the ceremony everyone gathered in the church hall for a cup of tea and a buffet lunch before heading off to Woodthorpe Hall Caravan and Camping park for the reception in Woody’s bar and restaurant.
These are a few of my favourite photographs from Ruth and Roy’s wedding. It was an absolute delight to photograph their special day and I found them both and their familes very warm and welcoming.
