Hengrave Hall wedding, Alex and Jenny.
Hengrave Hall is one of those wedding venues that takes your breath away as you come along the drive and the hall comes into sight. Set within 350 acres of Suffolk parkland just a short distance from the A14 road. I was last at Hengrave Hall in April last year for Kelly and Greg’s wedding – Hengrave Hall wedding photography. Hengrave Hall has a lot of history dating back to 1525 when it was built for a wealthy cloth merchant, In 1578 Queen Elizabeth was entertained here. Today Hengrave Hall is a grade 1 listed building which is extremely popular for weddings.
The groom, Alex is a talented composer, (his work has included the soundtrack for a film about the photographer Don McCullin) so it wasn’t much of a surprise that music featured throughout the wedding, Alex wrote the music played on a Cello as Jenny walked into the chapel. I recorded a live soundtrack at the wedding for use with a slideshow of the images.
I arrived to photograph Jen getting ready up in the bridal room before nipping across to the other side of Hengrave Hall to the grooms room for a few photographs of Alex before the ceremony which took place in the beautiful chapel next door.
After the ceremony a New Orleans style band played as Jenny, Alex, and their guests made the short walk to the gardens where they were further entertained by the band. The wedding breakfast, speeches and first dance followed.
I’m ideally located for weddings at Hengrave Hall, under an hour and a half away. Please get in touch if you are planning a wedding here and I can show you some more of my photographs. The venue lends itself to beautiful photographs both inside and out. The bridal room is one of the nicest I have seen anywhere with fantastic light, the only slight problem as a photographer is trying not to get yourself reflected in the many mirrors. The grooms room includes a pool table. Wedding ceremonies can take place either in the Great Banqueting hall (civil ceremony) or in the chapel (religious ceremony), I have done weddings in both. The chapel is really lovely and with no restrictions on photography it is possible to get some really gorgeous photographs during the ceremony. The gardens are beautifully kept and make the perfect backdrop for your drinks reception.
