Finchingfield wedding photography

Finchingfield is a pretty village in the Braintree district of Essex, this was the location for Ellie & Tom’s wedding in the summer of 2016. Unfortunately someone forget to tell the weather it was summer and it turned into one of the wettest weddings I’ve seen, not that I allowed that to get in the way of fantastic photography.

Coverage started with Ellie getting ready before heading off to catch up with Tom having a quick drink in a Finchingfield pub. It was then a short walk to Saint John the Baptist church through the historic Guildhall. At this point the rain started and didn’t let off until the evening.

The reception was in a beautiful large marquee in a garden, luckily for me (more on this later) my rear wheel drive car couldn’t get into the car park in a farmers field. During the drinks reception a thunder storm passed over with several very loud claps of thunder directly overhead, and it rained and rained and rained. I had to retrieve my camera bag from the corner of the marquee in which I’d left it as it was now almost floating. When it rains people gather close together inside and I find this makes great photographs.

After the speeches and dancing the guests found they couldn’t get out of the car park which was now thick sticky mud, luckily for me I had parked on higher ground so didn’t have to stay the night.
